Perchance I Could Take Heed, Not

Perchance I could take heed, not

But ask a question;

Knowing that in not asking

Is the telling,

But seeming a bit too forward

Pushy, yes;

I still lay claim to make

This one request.

One shall not know

Until one asks

And yet in asking,

Perpetuate a certain

Self-interest, which

If answered in the affirmative

Still leaves me feeling

Wanting for another’s cause

Unsure if my assertive front

May bear another’s loss.
